Slamming the door on 2011!

It has been many months since I have had the time to sit down and collect my thoughts here! I could spend several posts going back and updating you of what all has happened . . . . but I'm not sure I would get that all done! I'll keep it short and sweet!

School
I have successfully made it through my first semester of school this year! This year has seemed to be much more difficult than in the past for some reason. Well, for many reasons. But I'm not looking for sympathy. I will say that come next year, there WILL BE a change made of some sort. Not sure at this point what those changes will end up being, but I have several things in mind, so you'll have to stay tuned to see how everything turns out!

Captain
Justin has been through upgrade at his job and he is now a Captain! This is a good/bad situation. It's good because he makes more money, can build "pilot in command" time, and it's just a better title to carry :) It's bad because he is now based in NYC. This means he has to commute to NYC and be up there about 5 days a week. He did this for a little bit in October, and will go back to doing this indefinitely the end of this month. This just makes me become that much more independent of a person!

Christmas
We were able to visit almost every family member this Christmas! In a crazy turn of events (meaning this will probably never happen again) Justin was able to get off almost 2 weeks, so that meant that we were going to make the most of it! I made the specific decision to log out of my work email and not open it until I was back at work, and I will say that was the best idea ever! So we started in Oklahoma City! We spent mosts of our time with Justin's family and an evening with mine to do Christmas!

Ready for Christmas Eve!

Then we hopped a flight up to denver and met up with my family in La Junta, CO, where my dad's parents live. Now, I haven't seen any of my family that lives outside of OKC in 2 years, so I was excited to just be with them all! I was looking forward to Granny's chocolate cake the most!

After a couple of days there, we traveled up to Divide where my mom's parents live! This is in the mountains and it is nothing short of beautiful! You can see Pikes Peak from the front yard and there was snow everywhere! We were able to celebrate Christmas and hang out with most of that family and have a delicious meal. I also got to go to the most amazing, my favorite home store, Tweeds. This store is the ultimate mix of log cabin and glittery beautiful things. I specifically love the after christmas sale! I make it a point to go as soon as possible. Most of my christmas tree(s) decorations are from here and it makes me happy every year to add more!

We also spent a fun day playing on the incredibly long sledding hill my grandpa has created. The only thing it is missing is a way to get back up that does not involve heavy panting and frequent stops to keep from passing out! It's amazing how easily I get winded just because of the high altitude (the live at about 9,100 feet above sea level). It makes me think I should exercise a little more.
I LOVE a fire in the stove!

Somebody didn't have their snow boots!

This guy was huge!

This hill went about 5 times longer!

Even Dad went down!
