The End Has Come

Warning . . . . this post is mainly about my work. Just so you know.

Like I said, the end has come. The end of what you say? Well, we all know the world didn't end, so i'm talking about several other things!

First and foremost, the end of the school year! I will honestly say that this has been my best year yet! And I promise I'm not just trying to be cheesy! My kids were really good this year! I was even a little sad to see them go today at 4:00. They were (for the most part) really well behaved and excited to learn. I didn't have any fights or violence all year! I am proud of the little people I taught this year and I know they will do great in 4th grade!

She is special.

End #2- This was our principal's last year. She has retired and she will be greatly missed. In the 4 years I have been at my school, she has displayed great leadership and I have learned so much from her. Her leadership style and examples will stick with me forever and I am grateful for the chance she gave me when she hired the little girl from Oklahoma to try her hand at teaching in Memphis. I already have my waterproof mascara out for tomorrow which is our teacher inservice day. It may not be pretty.

It is also the end of me being in my same classroom. I am fortunate enough to have stayed in my one classroom every year up until now. Next year I am moving to another hallway so we can have our whole grade level together. Well, really I have spent the last week moving the incredible amount of stuff I have to my new room. It will be fun to be close to my colleagues on my team and I am looking forward to it!

And lastly, the end of flooding out here. The waters have gone down and have caused a lot of damage, but thankfully none of it effected us! We have had our fair share of bad weather, but nothing we can't handle . . . so far!

So now the summer begins. It will be filled with weddings, and showers, workshops, and lots of other random things to keep me busy!

Sleepy Head

I was wandering through my vast amount of pictures on my computer , and amongst the over 7000 pictures, I started to notice an intriguing pattern. The more I looked, the more I smiled. Then I chuckled. Then I found myself laughing. So, like I said, I had to share.

Ok. So I made the executive decision NOT to post the entire 60+ pictures of the many sleeping tales of Bella. But I had to share some. I hope this helps you crack a smile today. :)

Floating away??

So, if you don't live in Memphis, you might not know that we are all at risk of floating away out here. We have had tons of storms in the past week and a half and have had more rain than we know what to do with! With that said, the rivers and creeks, including the Mississippi, are already flooding and here comes more! Our super knowledgable weather people (that statement may be highly debatable) are saying were going to get tons of rain in the next couple of days.

This oughta be fun. NOT!

Our house is in the "hundred year flood zone" and our business is at more of a risk. We have started taking a few precautions at the business even though the rain hasn't really started because of course, they are saying this could be a hundred year flood! I'm not really convinced that our house is in bad danger, but we do have a creek down the street from our house that is rising. I am keeping an eye on things and have made sure to get things off of the floor as best I can. I mean what else do you do? I've been through many many storms throughout my days but never really dealt with floods.

Bella on the other hand is totally prepared. We practiced swimming at the park at her party and she is confident.

See? I told you she was ready!

So for now, we wait. I hope this all blows over and it is nothing like they predict. But if the rain comes, you can look for us floating around in Cordova, TN.
